Weeee should probably have asked you first, but D and Leon are going to Rae's restaurant for Leon's first meal in the park... Do you want Rae to be there (if so, she can show up anytime ^^), or should she be out/the place be empty?

Sorry for not getting ahold of you before this. I forgot all about the floating posts. XD
Feb. 17th, 2007 11:10 pm (UTC)
No worries! I wondered a bit when I saw the title of the post, but it went right out of my head with all the other stuff going on. ^_^ Replied. I didn't get too complicated with how Rae's seeing D, but she can usually get a glimpse of people's true natures by looking at their shadows. Not that she really knows how to interpret it. ^_^

D would probably be able to tell more about her, so...without recapping her entire novel, she's basically a very, very strong magic user who gets her power from the light of the sun. She contains a few "selves" he might be able to perceive - a tree-self (the incorruptible part of her which takes in the sunlight, and is the source of the power that's her birthright), a deer-self (something like a totem - she was given the blood of a doe to keep her alive and its soul sort of fused with hers) and a dark-self (which has the power she has over things that are the opposite of sunlight - the flip side of her coin.)

...and of course she's also just a girl who likes to cook. ^_^ All of that is just FYI - use or disregard whatever; I'd imagine he'd at least be able to pick up the deer-self, but I know the thread's really about Leon and D, and I don't want to derail that.
Feb. 17th, 2007 11:24 pm (UTC)
Heyyy, it's not derailing at all. This is excellent. XD Those "selves" sound really cool, and I think he'll really like what he senses from the deer-self and probably the tree-self. It's totally cool that she notices weirdness about him, and he will probably like her more than most people. I like that the deer-self likes him, too--nice touch. ♥

Hey! I was wondering if you'd like to do a thread with Strange and Sam coming by the restaurant!
Jun. 19th, 2007 05:22 pm (UTC)
Sure thing! Did one of you want to start it off?
Jun. 19th, 2007 08:15 pm (UTC)
Yup, we got it.
Jun. 19th, 2007 08:52 pm (UTC)
Okeydokey. Have thumbtacked it and will jump in when they get there. ^_^
Jun. 23rd, 2007 04:13 pm (UTC)
Sorry about the delay... I think she was waiting to hear from someone about living arrangements for Strange... and now of course she's gone, so we'll pick it up when she gets back! ;)

*laughs and laughs and giggles*

Fett is vaguely startled at the idea of not having ears. He really hopes she doesn't think he uses the Vader System (aka, having it all piped directly into to your brain), or something. XD
Oct. 8th, 2007 05:20 pm (UTC)
It occurs to me to toss an idea out ... an RP with Mrs L and Sunshine might be interesting, given what Sunshine now knows about her sometime friend. Let me know if you're up for it.
Oct. 8th, 2007 08:08 pm (UTC)
Definitely! I want to try to wrap a couple RPs first but then that would be awesome. ^_^
Oct. 8th, 2007 08:10 pm (UTC)
Eeeeeexcellent. :D I've got plenty of stuff on my own docket that needs to be wrapped up as well, so take your time and shoot me a note whenever you're ready.
Dec. 15th, 2007 11:53 pm (UTC)
So it occurred to me while posting in the Lilly/Una/Rukia thread just now...

During the app process Granny had mentioned something about showing Sunshine about/how to Borrow. You interested in that?
Dec. 16th, 2007 01:01 am (UTC)
(Hah, icon. Granny's so cute! XD)

Sure! Mind you, Sunshine's magic is a bit different from the Discworldian sort, so there may be some unintentional hilarity involved, but hey, all the better for RP purposes, right?

BTW, if Granny's living in the shack on the PotC ride, she's basically right in Sunshine's back yard: that part of the ride is sort of the back edge of the restaurant. So they've likely at least waved at each other a bit in passing.
Dec. 16th, 2007 01:11 am (UTC)
(I was gonna 'shop a little pointy hat onto it, but I still feel bad about the glasses one. Also, it's cute enough on its own)

Unintentional hilarity is the best kind of hilarity if you ask me.

Well, Sunshine probably waved, while Granny just gave a slight nod and went on her way. XD She's never really had neighbors before, poor thing.
Dec. 16th, 2007 01:19 am (UTC)
(*snerk! Awesome.)

Oh, agreed. Shall I start, or would you like to?

Point. On the upside, Sunshine's pretty much an ideal person to do the whole 'dropping in just as a cake has been frosted' routine on.
Dec. 16th, 2007 01:25 am (UTC)
I was thinking, if you like, we could run it such as Sunshine is bringing Granny some newly baked whatever, and Granny is out Borrowing at the time (and, of course, she hasn't gotten around to making a sign yet as she hasn't had any visitors before) which, as was said "Unintentional hilarity is the best"

So, maybe you should start it as there are only so many ways one can write "She laid there stone dead" and keep interest levels up. XD

Heya! Just thought I should give you an idea of everything Fett likely talked about on Bad Fanon Day --

He likely went on about how Dengar and his finacee Manaroo pulled him away from the side of the Sarlaac once he'd escaped it and nursed him back to health. And about how Dengar's one of the only sensible people he knows (depending on how much Sunshine absorbs of the rest of the conversation, it might be fairly clear to her that Dengar is sort of Fett's only friend). He will probably also go on about how much the Bounty Hunter's Guild sucked and about how he was hired to wreck the thing and it wasn't exactly difficult for him to accomplish.

I imagine that he'll mention the fact that he has cancer (which is unfortunately true from the time that I pulled him from canon, though it's obviously dormant in the park), and wonder out loud about why it hasn't hasn't been getting worse since there's nothing in the park to treat it.

However, he didn't talk about his wife and daughter at all. I don't think a wild bantha could drag that out of him, park or no park. Which might lead her to wonder whether he's actually ever had any sort of a relationship with a woman at all, since he's talked about nearly everything else. XD
Jun. 24th, 2008 01:59 am (UTC)
I realized that I've been meaning to mention this for a while - and I figure you've got stuff going on, so we definitely don't have to start this now - but Fett was going to warn Sunshine about Sylar a while back, and I never remembered to ask you if you wanted to do that thread. >.<

Also, Kelsey said to me the other day that she thought it might be funny if one day the Doctor came into Sunshine's restaurant, noticed the security system and deliberately set it off to examine it, thus sending Fett into panick-attack mode. Just a thought for the future that might be fun sometime. ^_^
Jun. 24th, 2008 03:55 am (UTC)
Hi! I'm actually around for the next few days, so if you and/or Kelsey wanted to do a thread I'd definitely be up for it. And I've been missing the Fett-Sunshine interaction. ^_^

The Doc-Fett-Sunshine idea sounds hilarious. If you wanted to, like, mention during that that he'd warned her about Sylar, I think that would make sense, but if you preferred a separate thread for just the two of them that would also be cool. What do you think?
Jun. 24th, 2008 04:00 am (UTC)
Awesome. I feel bad when they don't talk for a while. I start missing them and then he gets short in my head. XD

I think we can absolutely get away with saying that he's already told her about Sylar in the thread. So it should probably start with Sunshine and the Doctor, then. ^_^ Would you like to start it, or do you want Kelsey to knock out the first post?
Jun. 24th, 2008 04:06 am (UTC)
I know. That one Backstage post where people were calling them the het ship nobody wants to break up had me going "awwwww!" bigtime. (Well, and snickering at the concept of bishie!Fett. I mean...aside from anything else, how would you even tell what with the armor?) And then I got sarcastic mental comments about why in that case I didn't damn well play her, then.

Would Kelsey mind starting? I feel sort of out of practice.
Jun. 24th, 2008 04:10 am (UTC)
So did I, though he wasn't all that impressed. >_> (And then thought the exact same thing, I swear. XD)

No problem! I'll let her know. ^_^
Jun. 24th, 2008 04:36 am (UTC)
And now I have horrible mental images of some kind of manga!Fett slowly taking off his helmet for the first time, to reveal him in all his bright-yet-frowny-eyed, stern-mouthed and flowing haired magnificence. And the other characters all being amazed and/or swoony.

(God. Somebody somewhere has probably written this, haven't they?)

Incidentally, your use of Starbuck icons reminds me I wanted to tell you: having recently in my *cough* copious spare time gotten seriously into due South, I keep having the worst, most evil desire to app Ray Kowalski. Mainly because I adore him, but also out of a twisted desire to see Starbuck's reaction. He's played, if you didn't know, by a younger Callum Keith Rennie, who now plays Leoben Conoy.

Of course, there are about a million reasons I shouldn't do anything of the sort, beginning with my not having time to keep the characters I've got already active, continuing through not having a Fraser to play with, and ending with the fact that Starbuck doesn't deserve that kind of brain-breakage any more than Ray would deserve to get shot and/or beaten the crap out of on sight, but it still makes me giggle. Especially because really, Ray would want to be so nice to her. And feed donuts and talk to her wolf.

...Just wanted to share the snicker.
Jun. 24th, 2008 04:47 am (UTC)
(Yes. Yes, the have. Granted, people have been smart enough not to produce many, but whenever you run across them... O_o)

Oh gods. XD Actually, Kelsey's a huge fan of Due South, so when he appeared in the BSG miniseries she shrieked, "OMG it's Callum Keith Rennie!" (*does not mention that Kelsey could likely be easily coerced into playing Fraser if there was a Ray* >_>) The thought had crossed my mind a couple of times, since Ray is a popular character, and I had to wonder what would happen if we got one. And the possibilities are endlessly amusing. Especially because he could probably get her to like him after a long while. And that would freak her out so badly. *is a bad bad mun*
Jun. 24th, 2008 04:58 am (UTC)
(*DIES* So. Many. Kinds of wrong.)

Aaugh. God. Do not tempt me, I've been sitting on my hands for months now, and the "But he wouldn't have a Fraser! You can't take him away from Fraser! That's just cruel!" argument has always been the most convincing one. (God knows the "you don't have the time!" one never works. ><) It really would be a, um, dramatic situation though, wouldn't it? The thing that cracks me up most, in a way, is that if/when Ray understood the lookalike thing, what would bother him most wouldn't be that his clone existed (because, with all the Due South meta, that kind of thing totally just happens sometimes); it'd be that his clone was a bad guy. And he'd try very hard to be sweet to Kara to make it up to her, and yeah, how much would that screw with her head?
Jun. 24th, 2008 05:12 am (UTC)
(And then there are the people who try to slash him with various important figures before the events of the original trilogy. Yes, Virginia, there is a Fett/Anakin fairy. *twitches*)

*does not do the tempting or mention that Kelsey has been fighting the impulse to app him since she joined Dizzy....* She'd be so thrown out of whack. Because, of course, part of her problem is that she's attracted to Leoben the whole time she wants to kill him and all the rest. >.< And with Ray being such a nice guy, it would make for the worst disconnect ever. And then the whole time she'd have Fraser going, "I assure you, miss, he's never done anything like that in his life. I can vouch for his character." XD
Jun. 24th, 2008 05:31 am (UTC)
(DDDDD: What. WHAT? No! Just...why?!)

*whimpers* *starts counting letters in "shakebadguysshake" for username length just, like, for the sake of argument*

Exactly. And hey, she's a strong-willed, pretty blonde woman - if somewhat butcher than his usual type - so he'd most likely be very interested, though in a weirded-out kind of way. Especially if she'd begun by kicking his ass or attempting to do so, which would kind of have to happen. If only for the lulz. Although that then raises the question of how well Fraser typically reacts to Ray going after a girl...
Jun. 24th, 2008 05:38 am (UTC)
(IT IS BETTER NOT TO KNOW. At least, that's what I've always assumed.)

*sporfles at username* aaahahaaa. Win.

And the fact that getting involved with Starbuck in any way tends to lead to tears and blood and general reasons for worrying.... *is nine kinds of bemused*
Jun. 24th, 2008 05:55 am (UTC)
(The Interwebs work in mysterious ways, forsooth. Back when I used to read [Bad username: bad_roleplayers_suck] regularly I remember there was some kind of drama about a Sith Lord being lovey dovey with a young, hot Lord Vetinari from Discworld. I have no idea.)

It was inevitable. But, woe. It's also too long. Hm. *ponders ways of trimming*

Yup. Just the basic fact that BSG is roughly 10,000 times darker and more twisted than dS would be enough to throw them into confusion for, like, ever. These are not universes with a lot in common, yo. (Although there was that one wrong-yet-amazing fic series where Leoben abducts Fraser and it's all screwed up and surreal. I think I'm still wibbling.)
Jun. 24th, 2008 06:12 am (UTC)
(Aaaaaahhhhhhhh, my eyes O_O I think that gave me momentary brain failure. Because there is no universe on any plane of existence in which that could possibly make sense.)

Aren't they always? By usually one or two letters. I've nearly driven myself nuts a couple times with that. XD

So true. Fraser's nature alone is testament to the various issues that would arise. (And that sounds like amazing. Twisted amazing. I wholeheartedly approve.)
Jun. 24th, 2008 06:32 am (UTC)
(Yeah, exactly. IIRC, it was over at sages_of_chaos, unaffectionately known as "The Pit of Suck", and I think Vetinari was played by Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, or maybe that was the Sith. At a certain point, you stop remembering these details out of a desire to preserve what's left of your brain. Hence why I stopped reading BRPS; if I want to lose all faith in humanity, Fandom Wank is wittier.)

It really is aggravating. Plus the problem with usernames already being taken - Theatrical Muse people always seem to nab the actual names. Hm, there's always "dont_call_me_stan," although I suspect the missing apostrophe would haunt me.

...I shouldn't be putting this much thought into a journal I don't know if I should even be making. Um. I should probably ping Kelsey about this to see if she's even interested, shouldn't I?

To be fair, Fraser's personal history, with the double orphaning and the exile and freakin' Victoria and everything, would in any other canon mark him as a doomed and tragic figure. But even so, it's not really a comparable kind of tragedy, is it? Because the basic concepts behind both 'verses are so different. (I think it was recced at crack_van, but I could try to dig it out for you, if you want. There was also a remix from Ray's point of view, which was equally as traumatic, though it did have Ray together again with Fraser. So, happy ending! Aside from the fact that Cylons have now taken over the Earth! ><)
Jun. 24th, 2008 06:56 am (UTC)
(Ah, the telltale sign. One must always be played by Jonathan Rhys-Meyers or Christian Bale. >.<)

And when they're taken, I find myself going to look up the person who's taken the name, only to the discover that the journal has been abandoned for months. And then I cry. And I have the apostrophe problem too. ^^

You absolutely should. Though I should warn you, her immediate response to my informing her about your inkling to app Ray was: OMG. XD

You're always sort of okay with everything that happens with Fraser because he is so good with it, in the end. And so grounded and connected, despite the fact that it seems the opposite to the people around him most of the time. (I will have to go looking for it. Yay, cylon!Earth!?? ;_;)
Jun. 25th, 2008 06:59 am (UTC)
(JRM or Christian Bale PBs seem to be, like, the equivalent of Evanescence lyric-titles for fics at ff.net. It's probably not impossible for them to be halfway decent, but I haven't seen a lot of evidence otherwise. This does, of course, except characters actually played by either actor.)

So, uh - *points to journal name* ...I got bored? Have you ever noticed how hard it is to shut up a character once you give them the faintest indication you might play them? I finally made the thing just as a place to put all the pretty pretty icons I was finding. Which, now of course there's not even enough room for that...

I think you're right about the nature of Fraser's woobieness. And then there's the overall tone of the show. Although I can't help but pity those viewers of the original run who were stuck with the cliffhanger at the end of Victoria's Secret II, because holy crap that's...there wasn't a lot of happy whimsy there. But yeah, otherwise, a lot of stuff slides off him. Not necessarily torture by cylons, though.
Jun. 25th, 2008 08:46 am (UTC)
(Haha, yes. Just like those fics. Many pouty-lipped, smoldery-eyed icons later.... >.< Of course, having Bruce Wayne or Maxwell Demon around would be another matter entirely.)

Aw, the icons are so cute! And yes. Yes, I know just how that is. For the past couple of months, Luke Skywalker climbed out of my Fond Childhood Corner and decided that he would be a great character to app next. I have been stalwartly resisting ever since. And then, of course, I made the mistake of going to see Get Smart the other day and thinking ever so briefly, 'huh, wouldn't he be a great character to have in the park.' LEAVE ME ALONE, FOUL DEMONS.

Victoria's Secret was a shocker for precisely that reason; you spent the whole time going, But... but they can't do that! It goes against the happy feel-good vibe! (omg, that fic. it was heartbreaking. and really well thought out. but mostly tear-inducing. *goes off to wibble in a corner*)
Jun. 25th, 2008 08:42 pm (UTC)
(As long as it's not JRM!Henry VIII. That show's existence just makes my head ache. [/Tudor history fan] I would love a Bruce Wayne, though, or really any of the Big Classic Superheroes. When the Titans were a bit more active I kept being tempted to app not-evil-yet!Smallville!Lex Luthor just to mess with them. Especially because, if I'd done it, he would have been the perfect person to have read Pattern Recognition and break Cayce's brain. I had misty dreams of her freaking out to Crichton that, wtf, she's fictional in the freaking DC Universe?! Also, why is Lex so likeable? Alas, one can't app everyone. XD)

It occurs to me that pretty much all of the fic I've ever recced you - this and that one Doctor/Master series, anyway, has been worryingly dark and twisty. O_o I'm not a psycho, I swear! I happily read any amount of fluff! Just not, um, in the BSG universe. Can you even write such a thing as fluff half decently for BSG?

Hello! So I posted a thread for Sunshine & Marguerite, I hope that's cool? Feel free to reply whenever you can. :D Thanks!
